Computer Mediated Communication and the World of Today and Tomorrow.
In a lot of ways the future is already here. We may not have flying cars, but on the other hand we may already be cyborgs. The video below is an online discussion I created for a class I teach, while it's not exactly fluxtopic I think it absolutely adds to the discussion. Enjoy.

What is Fluxtopia?
I'm pretty sure everyone knows what Utopia and Distopias are. Our history, western religion, and Science Fiction are filled with the binary proposition, Heaven or Hell as it were. We have a tendency to see things in there extremes, specifically when think about the future.
We have Star Trek, and about the same time we have Planet of the Apes. Both show us a potential imagined future. They offer us the view of the best and the worst humanity has to offered.
Futurists, if anyone really deserves that title, show us the same two options.
Either we are moving towards a world of technological equality, longevity, technological freedom, maybe even flying cars, or we are moving towards the next extinction event, global warming, plagues, or even ourselves.
Neither of these views are real. The future never reaches the poles. We never actually have either Utopia or Distopia. What we get is a little of both, and it's constantly changing, in a state of flux. What we actually get is fluxtopia.
